Meet Mabel - Our School Therapy Dog

Meet Mabel, our school therapy dog at Fountain Head House School.

Mabel always makes everyone feel welcome. She greets us with excitement and joy. You can’t help but smile when she’s around.  Mabel is loved by the whole school community.

As a therapy dog, Mabel plays an important role in school life. Pets are known to have a positive impact on children, and Mabel demonstrates this every day. She helps pupils feel calm, reduces stress and anxiety, and supports their overall wellbeing. Many pupils enjoy reading with her in the library, where her presence encourages confidence and focus.

Pupils love taking Mabel on short walks, giving her treats (which she never refuses!), and sharing cuddles.

These moments also teach children valuable skills:

• Develop important social skills

• Boost communication skills

• Learn to manage emotions and cope with stress

• Gain knowledge of pets and how to behave safely and responsibly around them

Beyond these skills, Mabel contributes to a positive and supportive school atmosphere.
