Introducing Loose Parts Play at FHHS

We are excited to introduce Loose parts play into the outdoor areas. Loose parts play involves using a wide selection of everyday objects and materials to create, build, invent, experiment and play with in an open ended way. Loose parts play can contribute to development of children’s creativity, exploration, imagination and learning in a fun way.

Children and young people will play with loose parts in different ways depending on their age, ability, stage of development and play preferences.

One of our teachers said that the children in the class love all the loose parts items they can find in the shed. They enjoy exploring the items everyday. Some of the children will independently choose their items and create their own way of playing with them.

We want to say a big thank you to Plymouth Scrapstore who have collaborated with the school and staff to provide a sustainable way of offering our children resources to play with.
