Careers in March: RNLI Visits Pupils at FHHS

We had a brilliant interactive visit from the RNLI this month as part of our Careers in March programme. It was a great opportunity for our pupils to learn more about an organisation that plays such an important role in our community. The RNLI leaders carried out demonstrations and the pupils had a fabulous time following their lead by simulating swimming and the correct way to signal for help. The pupils then acted out the role of the lifeguard by dressing up in the uniform and using the equipment. They had great fun running to the swimmers and 'saving' them.

As a national organisation, the RNLI plays a vital role in keeping our shores safe, which is especially important for us living in Cornwall and Devon, surrounded by the sea. Sadly, every year there are incidents where lives are lost, and many of these could be prevented with better awareness and understanding of sea safety.

During the visit, pupils learned all about how to stay safe by the sea and the important work the RNLI do to protect lives along our coast. Living by the sea, this is incredibly valuable knowledge for our children and something that will stay with them.

A big thank you to the RNLI team for such an inspiring and informative visit!
