A VERY WARM WELCOME TO FOUNTAIN HEAD HOUSE SCHOOL

A co-educational, independent SEN day school created specifically to provide unique and enjoyable learning experiences for young people aged 5 – 16 years with special needs.

Our school offers a warm and friendly learning environment for pupils with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan. We offer specialist provision for pupils with autism, communication and interaction needs, sensory processing needs, global developmental delay and other related aspects.

The Fountain Head House School curriculum model follows a therapeutic educational approach that promotes the development of Emotional Wellbeing, Cognitive Knowledge and Functional Skills.  It is acknowledged that pupils’ past experiences both in school and life will influence their ability to engage in learning, and so we feel it paramount to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing to support their learning as a whole.

Our curriculum offer is highly personalised to the needs of each pupil and delivered through our three Curriculum Pathways: Learning to Learn, Participating in Learning and Independent Learning. The teaching of English, Maths, Science, PSHE and PE sits at the core of each Curriculum Pathway, and pupils will also enjoy planned experiences of the wider curriculum including, where appropriate, Life Skills, Computing, Music, Art and Design. Our Education and Therapy teams work closely together to provide a combined approach to supporting pupils’ learning towards developing a love for learning, knowledge and skills, in preparation for a fulfilled and productive adult life.

At Fountain Head House School we believe that high quality Careers Education and Guidance is critical to our pupils’ futures. Our curriculum features highly personalised Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) with a focus on preparing our pupils for the next step in their educational journey or the workplace, by providing a clear understanding of the world of work, including the routes to work or careers that they might find engaging and rewarding. We support our pupils to acquire the independence, self-development and work/career management skills they need to achieve positive employment destinations, to improve their life opportunities and to have a productive and fulfilling life beyond school.

We are an inclusive school and believe that neurodivergence is about differences and not about deficit. We believe that such differences need not be barriers to success, and so we have developed a curriculum approach which includes learning pathways and adaptive approaches to meet the needs of each individual pupil. We have taken the very best school practices and built them into our school.

We consider that creating an inclusive school community is one of the key aspects for supporting our pupils to develop and grow. We welcome parents and carers views and open dialogue. We promote contact with parents and carers through our school community events which include Coffee Mornings, Afternoon Teas and termly special events. We look forward to creating a school community together with you.
